SPRING BREAK SERVANT EVENT MEXICO:

A unique way for you to get your hands dirty as you play a vital role in sharing God’s love with His people in Chihuahua, Mexico. The cost for a Servant Event to Chihuahua is $270 per person. This includes your transportation from El Paso to Chihuahua, food while there, lodging, materials, the visa you need to go to Chihuahua, as well as some reimbursement of expenditures for Pastor Tovar and Blanca.

Groups going to Chihuahua typically arrive in El Paso on Saturday, spend the night there, go to English service in the morning, and are then taken across the border to Juarez and the bus station to board for Chihuahua. The trip lasts about 5 hours. Once there Pastor Tovar will pick you up and take care of everything you need until you come back.  Groups typically come back sometime around 12 or in the afternoon from Chihuahua and leave El Paso Saturday.

Currently the projects that are in the works include

At the church Gloria Dei where there is also a pastoral house and the rooms where groups stay:
- painting
- building storage shelves in the sacristy
- minor ceiling repair
- installing a window in the pastoral house

At the church in another neighborhood that is getting prepared to hold worship services
- cleanup
- painting
- minor repairs

HOUSING:
Under the church there is a basement where the Tovar's son and family live (he is also a pastor) and there are several bunk beds. Groups usually split up between here and air mattresses in the church, or some sleep in the Tovar's house. Blanca Tovar prepares all meals and may occasionally ask for a bit of help, especially with dishes.

FUN:
Well, the whole trip is fun right??? :-)  But Pastor Tovar always likes to show people around the area of Chihuahua. You will certainly go to the market in Chihuahua city (different than the one in Juarez, but similar in a lot of ways) and have some time to explore downtown. Sometimes, if work projects are going well he also takes groups to see some other sights. Also, a lot of people will decide to walk to a park close to the church some evening just to run around a bit and be outside for longer.
